The standard belt comes with a 12 inch tether between the two belts, and is designed for a tree stand where you stand and sit with your back to the tree.
When you place one belt around your waist, and the other belt parallel to your waist and around the tree, the 12 inch tether allows you plenty of room to stand or sit without re-adjusting either belt!

If you fall, or your stand collapses, once you grab the tree, and get yourself under control, you can get the leverage to release the buckles with only one finger. This is possible even with all your weight on the belt. You cannot do this with any other hunter's safety restraint! If you hunt from bigger tree stands, or for any reason you need more than 12 inches clearance between you and the tree, we offer an adjustable safety belt. This adjusts from 12 inches to 3.5 feet. It is ideal for climbing stands, big ladder stands, home-made platforms, and tree lounges. The belt doesn't "tighten up" or "loosen up" on you, nor does it tip you upside down. YOU are always in control of the belt.
